Adorned with grace grab bag, and post office rant

Something I got from Adorned with Grace last week- a $3 grab bag :) These are discontinued or 'oops' colors intended for warmer skin tones. I chose the one with colors suitable for use on the eyes, cheeks, and face. It contained loads of baggies! There's a lot of neutrals, and the colors which can be used as blush look much more shimmery than the regular shimmer blushes, but I think I can work with them. Will definitely be playing with these.

I also got a few samples of their 2009 Summer Limited Edition Eyecolors...I wish I'd gotten all colors! They are so pretty and wearable.

Left to right - Chivalrous, Classy, Sagacious, Confident, Clever. Swatches of the rest of the Summer collection can be found at their blog.

I'm also happy to say that I'm done color-matching with Adorned with Grace- I previously thought I found my match with Hope 4.2, but it is actually Hope 3.8, which is a shade lighter. Yay!

And here is something from another package that I collected along with the AwG one. It's from Makeup Masala.

Don't they look so sad and lonely? I suspect that the package was tampered with, as only 4 out of supposed to be 11 items were inside! What's missing are: 2 more bottles of nail polish, 2 L.A. Girl eye pencils, a NYX jumbo lip pencil, a bent eyeliner brush, and EctoTools bamboo 6 mini brushes (btw I already took the elf polish out of their packaging). Sigh. I know Toma would have informed me if the other items were out of stock.

This has never happened before, and I was always satisfied with my post office since they always delivered my packages quite fast, directly to my doorstep, and whenever I went there the post office ladies were very nice to me. When I received a post office notification card which turned out to be for the AwG package, I went to the PO and asked if there were any other packages that arrived for me. As usual, the lady at the counter was nice and motherly, and looked inside to check. She came out waving a package victoriously, calling out to happily tell me that yes, there was another one. It was the Makeup Masala package, and I was just happy that it wasn't lost, so I thanked her, and got out of there.

It was only much later that I opened it, and I was so surprised that those were the only contents. I examined the package and curiously it didn't have any dates marked on it, as all the others do. It was sent a month ago, btw. And I didn't notice earlier but the end of it was heavily taped. I wish they'd left me the brushes instead of the nail polish, I was really looking forward to using those!

And now still no other packages or anything, and I still have several in transit. Why'd they suddenly decide to mess with my stuff?

So sorry that happened to you. I'm expecting some packages as well but my PO hasn't given out any notice cards. Sana lang hindi nila buksan without me there.

OMG! That was so terrible. They shouldn't steal other people's items. Shame on them.

I have a question about mineral makeups. I ordered the EDM few weeks ago and been using it on and off. I have hard time blending the loose powder evenly on my face(I use it as foundation)even with kabuki brush, and honestly i dislike using the kabuki brush to swirl/brush/blend again and again, fear that it's gonna damage my skin. I'm not really sure how mineral makeups benefit my skin, since I don't have sensitive skin. Sorry to hear about the terrible post office incident!

How frustrating! You had to wait long enough and then to not get it all.

I love the swatches of colors. Looks like fun! Too bad you didn't get the ecco tools mini brushes I love mine!

this is the reason why many MMU companies stopped shipping to us..the PO is getting worst..so sad..

nina, thanks. i do hope you get your packages quickly, and unopened!

gracie, parang hassle lang kasi...pero pag nangyari pa ulit, definitely magrereklamo na ko. kaya yung mscuppycakes order sa add mo na lang, baka kunin yung mga lipstick pag dito!

nikki, very bad PO!

shobe, no it's ok, ayoko na magpadala pa ulit si toma. alabang PO. dapat nga nagreklamo pag ganun at ipakita yung package. eh ako kasi nainis parang ayoko na sila ulit kausapin, tapos tinapon ko na yung envelope...

pammy, i know! it's so frustrating and annoying.

thiamere, kainis no? siningil ka nanaman ba ng malaki sa PO mo? badtrip.

anastacia, thank you hun!

donnarence, sana hindi naman mangyari yun sa packages mo sis. may ibang PO na ok naman daw :)

dreamer, is your kabuki brush soft? i use the edm long handled kabuki and find it soft enough, and gentle to my skin. mineral foundation can be hard to blend the first few times. i'd recommend using less than you think you need, use just very little. my application method:
-spritz hydrating mist into swirly bowl. then sprinkle a small amount (like 1/32 of a tablespoon) of mmu foundie into it. swirl kabuki brush (once only) in the bowl and apply 1 thin layer onto face using gentle circular motions.
-i let this settle in a bit by applying concealer on my blemishes and undereyes in the meantime.
-spritz 2-3 sprays into swirly bowl and again sprinle an even smaller amount of mmu foundie into the bowl. then get a stippling brush (ex. mac187) and swirl that in the bowl. stipple all over face. blend a bit
-once it dries a little, lightly brush on a little finishing powder, then blush.
and that's it. just wanted to share my method. less is more with mmu. and i find that if i keep repeating the swirl/tap/buff thing instead of just 2 thin layers, it tends to cake! i like to use mmu because it doesn't break me out (i'm acne-prone) or aggravate my skin. seems to give my skin a slightly smoother texture too. i have to say though, i'm not fond of edm's foundation. there are lot of better ones out there imo. but i like their blushes and brushes :)

lyndsey, yeah! i waited a month for it only to find out the items i was most excited to get weren't there! i'm gonna get those ecotools mini brushes :D

gale, how true! and it's not even our fault.

Sorry to hear about this. Good thing my PO although very slow too doesn't open packages (knock on wood) unless in front of you. I also got my package from Toma last week and complete naman sila. Toma did indicate that one of my orders was replaced by another shade bec. it was out of stock so she should have indicated that they were not included or replaced.

Kaya nga ayaw ng iba mag ship sa Pinas unless Priority or Express for more security. Sana makarma sila!

Re AwG...I got their grab bag months ago and got a variety of shades too. Unfortunately I haven't even swatched any of them until now...don't even know where I put them. Oh well.

i wouldn't mind if my PO was very very slow, as long as they deliver all my packages intact. buti ka pa. i know toma would never send me an incomplete order without telling me about it beforehand. yung ibang companies nga ayaw na magsship at all dito diba. yung awg grab bag mo, sayang naman...

Sorry to hear about your PO problem. That's the reason why I'm hesistant to buy online internationally. It's not because I don't trust them. I don't trust our own postal service. Sana makarma yung kumuha ng package mo!

Ida said...

kanishk, thanks for visiting :)

gem, oo nga eh, i guess for now, di na rin muna ako magoorder ng kahit anung dadaan sa postal service natin.

ida, thanks so much for sharing detailed method with me. I'm a total newb to mineral makeups and I have one small kabuki brush from everday essencials.I have acne prone skin too, might consider mmu as you suggested, with your method.. hehe

this is the reason i don't order packages anymore. it is just so disappointing, di ba? same thing happened to me in Marikina. I lost a package Gracie sent me and super nahiya ako kasi she had to send another one. but don't get me started with Pasig PO. maiiyak ka sa halagang di ko na nakuha!

Ida said...

dreamer, you're much welcome, i hope those really help :) definitely, a good-quality brush is a must. and dry application works too, i do this when my skin is more oily :)

amanda, yeah i know :( thanks for visiting my blog though! :)

michelle, thank you! :) am working on the post with the tag now.

louie, hi! glad to see you here :) ok naman ako, i hope you are too. hay, hindi na muna ako order internationally dahil sa PO. haven't tried ocean mist yet, but have heard of it :)

shen, sobrang disappointing. pagkatagal tagal hinintay tapos hindi rin darating. jusko, ayokong pagisipan yung halaga na baka hindi ko rin makuha waah. like you i won't be ordering international na rin muna. don't worry about the aromaleigh order though, it's insured naman. pero sana maging ok na at dumating na along w/ my other packages.
